New Super Marisa Land

Tasogare Frontier

I’m about a year late here with this game but I generally don’t play these mini spin off touhou fan games. Surprisingly this one was well worth the measly download even though truthfully, I have barely even really experienced the game as of yet. In this mario like game, you take the role of marisa kirisame. Going through stages very much similar to mario, although in difficulty comparison, much easier stages.

So after selecting start, you begin at the stage select. As you can see I have only completed 2 stages. Anyway all you really have here are the stages, the shop which opens after completing stage 1 and the “Castle” houses.

Here at the shop you can buy items such as power-ups, saves, which save your game, and 1UPs. Stars you obtain in stages are your currency for the shop. I’m sure as the game goes on there will be more added to the shops, such as different power-ups. Anyway, now onto the stages!

Stages are similar to that of mario. You go through, hitting boxes, collecting stars, finding hidden areas and finally getting through to the end of the stage. As you go through you come across mushrooms that turn you from a small marisa, to a full sized marisa.

Her transformation goes even further with special power-ups. The only one I have so far is tea. Grabbing this tea turns marisa into a hybrid reimu.

There are also a wide variety of cute enemies, as usually seen in the mainstream games. Upon death these cute enemies give you a blue square, once again, similar to what is gotten upon them dying in the mainstream game, which gives you additional points.

All in all, a pretty addicting game if you’re a touhou fan. If not or if you’re a hardcore mario weirdo, you’ll probably just find it as a shitty mario rip off.

Tales of Xillia – Shaping up nicely – Updated with new trailer (07/08/11)

Tales of Xillia was announced as the PS3 exclusive tales back in December of 2010. Of course the word exclusive being used by namco isn’t very reassuring that it will be an exclusive at all. Currently there is NO NEWS of an English release for the game, just thought I’d get that out of the way first.

Xillia will be using a double sided view to it’s storyline. You will be able to choose to either view the story from Jude’s  point of view, or Mila’s point of view. Meaning it will take two play throughs to truly understand the story. That not only adds more depth to the story but extends the game play of our loveable tales.

There has been quite the upgrades to Xillia as opposed to it’s older tales counterparts. The game is artistically beautiful and much more graphically above any tales released to date. The game adds more mechanics, such as climbing, crawling, movement during sketches, and much more. The battles have also had some slight changes to them and is derived as a variation to the system used in Destiny/Graces. The Double Raid Linear Motion Battle System.

The game will be coming to the PS3 on September 08, 2011, along with 2 different “packages”. The Kyun Character Pack Bundle, or the Famitsu DX Bundle. There will also be a Xillia 15th anniversary PS3 Bundle that comes with a copy of the game, but also a 160 GIG PS3 Slim. The game is up for pre-order now but it will be awhile until the 3 bundles are avalible for pre-order so keep your eyes out.

The pre-order gift is rather crappy. The only worthwhile things are the costumes and even those are not befitting of the characters style at all(Maybe it’s my dislike of capes.). DLC costumes do not get any better either. The first released costumes will be derived from star driver and once again look absolutely shitty and do not go along with the initial character style.

Little author side note: Elise is just so god damn adorable. Also I left out anything story related because as with all tales games it will simply go down the road of soul crushingly saving the world. So it would be best to save the flavor of the story before that as a nice surprise, aside from what was seen in the trailers of course.

Japan Crisis

This has been on the news for a few days and yet only now do i find myself writing about it. This incideny would have helped the Japanese view foreigners as less hairy barbarian and more as humans like them. With all the help they are currently receiving from other countries.

However a lot of people are considering what happened as a good thing. A lot of Americans are basing all of this with pearl harbor, even though we nuked Japan twice which was double over kill as to the pearl harbor attack.  Yes I’m generalizing it but I’m only speaking of those who are saying such, not everyone as a whole.

Idk, it just gets me riffled when I see such illogical crap spouting from the high and mighty americans from this situation. Now I truly see why we are viewed as such bad people to the world outside. It’s a tragedy when it happens to us, but when it happens to another country, it’s ll just a joke. Right now, I’m ashamed I’m American. A majority of people killed at pearl harbor were soldiers, however a majority killed in Japan by the 2 fucking nukes was a mass of civilians.  It happened 60 years ago, people have lost those they loved in the incident. But bearing a grudge is exactly why people can never change.

Anyway, as I said to my clan a few hours back, the negativity is not only routing from certain american individuals, but also figureheads inside Japan. The current govenor of Japan, Ishihara, that did things as if he was a dictator had this to say.

The identity of the Japanese people is greed.

This tsunami represents a good opportunity to cleanse this greed, and one we must avail ourselves of.

Indeed, I think this is divine punishment.

*Taken from sankakucomplex

Basically he was saying that all the people that died, all the people who lost their homes, all those who grieve in general of what happened, are simply now an opportunity to change Japan. It’s people like him that make me sick more than anything. People that have the power to change things, see the world like this and thus prevents change. Greed indeed, but that greed lies with people like him, not the innocent people.

Most of this was copied and pasted from my conversation.

Disorganization Meet Organization

Since I’ve made this blog it’s been a miss mosh of different topics. Ranging from short anime/animated movie reviews to MMO game hype. This will now change, somewhat anyway.

When I’m able to start watching anime again, god that day will come soon. Fucking studying. I will be writing a review of each and every anime I watch that season. Rather than taking my top four and writing a small crappy review on it mid season. Which is another point. The reviews will not be written until the season has concluded.

Added to that, due to my recent manga rush, I will also be writing reviews on that, although since manga takes ages to”end” it will most likely be writen mid series or whatever.

MMO Game hype, well fuck that. That’s dropping period. Guild Wars 2 will be my next MMO and that will last for years so, there won’t be anything to hype anyway. Not to mention all the free to play shit I hype is utter fail garbage upon release anyway. I will certaintly be writing stuff on GW2 upon release, but that’s about it for the MMO side of things.

I will still be putting up random news that catches my attention though. Just because, it’s better to know the world *cough* I write on Japan*cough* than be ignorant. Am I right?

Anime to Manga – Damn

Well I haven’t been able to see any anime since december of last year. Those who check the blog for my small anime mid season reviews will notice there hasn’t been one nor has there been a winter anime chart (Something I will start making my self due to chartfags going down. At some point in the future that is, not any time soon.). This is to keep me outside of the loop because it rather makes me despair a bit that I haven’t been able to watch anything.

So my addiction for the time being has shifted to manga. I’ve only read like 20 manga in my life so it will be an interesting shift I guess. So there may be some small manga reviews from now on as well. Also since I haven’t delved much into manga,it would be nice to recieve some recommendations on manga to read. Leave a comment here or PM me with a suggestions. DONOT hand me that One piece, naruto or bleach bullshit cause I have no intention of reading it as much as I had the intention to watch it. Which is 0%.

The last hope of the NA Tales – Graces

As stated in many of the past topics I write on tales. The series is in poor condition. Selling pathetically even in Japan, and just as bad if not worse for some titles here in NA. I think namco was a little sceptical as to whether they wanted to bring graces to NA. Even the Executive producer of the Japanese tales studio, Yoshidumi, has taken a trip to the NA studio to see how the game was coming along.

Namco has stated that if we want to see any more of the Tales series here in NA, then Graces F had better sell well. Honestly though, I don’t believe it will meet their expectation. NA is home to citizens that value fantastic 3D graphics, not some cute anime style game. Even more critical is the fact that NA is home to well, a sea of pirates that don’t want to waste their money.

Here is to the hope that NA namco’s expected sales is less that 200,000/150,000. Importers may rejoice as well, it won’t affect them in the end. Those that wait for a localization, well cross your fingers on this. Also that they lower the price of the DLC Costumes. Not many people have $5 to squander for a single costume for a single character.

I seem to have been doing a lot of tales related topics lately. Guess the hype from xillia is still on me. I’ll also be putting up a review of Graces F in the coming days. (When I get the time to sit down and actually write out the brick.)

Anime’s Ban & it’s Downslide

Awhile back there was news of a ban on anime, manga, and games, that possesed sexual content. The first attempt to get this bill to pass, was rejected. Anime fans breathed a sigh of relief. However a few months back, the bill was once again brought back up by the snake Ishihara, Tokyos current govenor. A man who hates anime and foreigners as much as he hates his own fellow Japanese men.

The second time it was brought up it garnered support of the people who previously dismissed it. This problem caused the bill to sucessfully pass and to be established of april this year.

While the bill is still currently inactive until said time, anime, manga, and games have already been shifted to the adult section of stores in droves. Now, the problem here is, what anime nowadays doesn’t have some form of sexual context or even refrence in it? This will leave the adult section growing in waves, with the standard area for anime shrinking and growing cobwebs. Lets face it, most anime considered “normal” is that crap like Maho shojou girl, no offense to it’s creepy fans/little girls. All of that excluding season 3 of nonoha, that season was good.

Now to further this craze, tokyo MX, that aired quite a good amount of the seasonal anime is now deciding to become an anime free channel, while at the same time opting to not hire anyone who is a fan of anime. (They aired the sausy anime but it’s censored so it’s not really a big blow as anoher channel will simply pick it up. So shove it to yourself MX.

Let’s face it, the anime industry has already been in critical condition. Ishiharas hopes is to obliterate it completely. Lets see how this game of ban progresses.
